In March this year, the Green Office organised the Climate Competition, in which students competed to cut the most CO?e by carrying out climate-friendly activities in their everyday lives.
Examples of activities the students could do included cycling to university, throwing away less food and repairing broken items instead of buying new ones. In total, we saved 10,159 tonnes of CO?e at UiO. This means that each participant saved 123 kg of CO?e.
The study programme that cut the most overall was the bachelor's programme in Cultural Heritage and Conservation. As a prize, the students were awarded a cabin trip.
"The opportunity to win a cabin trip together motivated us. It was also motivating to see how little it took to live a little more climate-friendly, and what green habits we already had." This is what Cedrik Jevne, the financial manager in the programme committee for Cultural Heritage and Conservation, wrote to the Green Office in an email.
He adds that the programme was grateful for the opportunity to go on a cabin trip. ‘We are a small study programme with a close-knit community, and the climate competition encouraged us to take green measures in our everyday lives,’ Cedrik emphasises.
The Green Office team is delighted that the Cultural Heritage and Conservation students took part in the competition and enjoyed their cabin trip!
