An easing of covid-19 restrictions for the University of Oslo

Increased capacity in reading rooms, the possibility of some physical teaching, a reopening of museums and student cellars are the results of an easing of corona restrictions from 26 May.

students in readingsrooms

On 21 May, the Government and Oslo Municipality presented new changes to the Covid-19 restrictions as part of reopening the country and the City of Oslo.

– We have always maintained that we should be as closed as necessary and as open as possible. Now I am very happy that we can lift restrictions even more, says Rector Svein St?len.

More reading room seats and physical education

The possibility of more physical teaching is opening up (up to 20 persons), subject to regular testing as well as requirements related to who is present and where they are seated, in order to be able to carry out effective infection detection. There will from the 27th of May be increased capacity in the reading rooms that can be booked in the time registration system.

Events

The guidelines for Oslo Municipality allow a maximum of 20 people at indoor events, provided they have designated seats. For outdoor events, the limit is 50 with designated seats, 30 if there are no designated seats.

Cellars can reopen

Cafes, pubs and restaurants can reopen from 26 May, and alcohol can be served until 22.00 (national rules applying until 27 May require food to be served when serving alcohol, after 27 May this requirement does no longer apply). This means that student cellars can reopen, as long as they adhere to the guidelines that apply to restaurants.
