UiO has started using Phase 1 of the Life Science Building – access remains restricted

Statsbygg and UiO signed the lease agreement in February, and on 2 March 2026 Phase 1 was handed over from Statsbygg Eiendom to UiO.

The UiO Estate Department (EA) is now responsible for operation, security and safety services, and cleaning of Phase 1, sectors 4–6, in cooperation with Statsbygg Eiendom. EA’s staff have moved into the LSB and established themselves in the building.

The Life Science Building will continue to have restricted access until after Easter 2026. Until 10 April, access is limited to:

? Estate Department operations and cleaning staff

? UiO’s reception project

? User coordinators who already have access to the construction site

For those who have access and move around in the building, it is important to remember:

? Do not let unknown persons into the building

? Wear your access card visibly

? Make sure doors are closed and locked when you leave locked rooms/zones and exterior doors

There will still be some work taking place in the premises. Contractors and suppliers will have their own access, by agreement.

The operations team has moved into the operations office on level 2, sector 4.

Security and the alarm control centre will have a presence in the LSB.

The information point in the atrium will have sporadic presence from the LSB reception during working hours.

There is access to the LSB from the south side (the forecourt and the park) and the north side (access road from Problemveien), but there is still a construction site and ongoing outdoor work at both ends of the building (east and west).
