The culture of remembrance surrounding the Holocaust has become a reference point in the work against racism, human rights violations and mass violence. With the war in Gaza, Holocaust remembrance has been seriously drawn into contemporary politics.?

Professor of Holocaust and Genocide Studies at Brown University in the USA, Omer Bartov, has expressed fear that the culture of remembrance surrounding the Holocaust may lose its universal significance.

We invite you to a lecture with Omer Bartov and a conversation about the place of the Holocaust in our culture of remembrance. The conversation will feature Nikolai Melamed Kleivan, journalist at Morgenbladet, among others (more information will follow). The event is led by Peder Nustad, leader of Dembra, at the Norwegian Holocaust Center.

The event is part of the series In the Shadow of War - the Way Forward, which is a collaboration between the Norwegian Holocaust Center and the University of Oslo.
