About the project
CREE is a social science based energy research centre funded by the Research Council of Norway (FME Samfunn) with an annual grant of NOK 8 million. CREE seeks to develop knowledge on the effects of framework conditions in the energy market and on technological development, including innovation and the diffusion of technology for renewable energy, energy efficiency and carbon capture and storage.
In CREE's first phase (2011-16) SUM contributed in Work Package 4, Evaluation of Environmental and Energy Policy Measures. Together with SSB, SUM conducted an interdisciplinary study on the comfort rebound related to heat pumps in Norwegian homes and another study on the case of Klosterenga housing Cooperative (passiv house). With CICERO, CREE researchers from SUM studied the effects of using In-Home Displays. In CREE's second phase, SUM continues to collaborate with SSB researchers on the links between framework conditions and household energy use.
Duration: 2011- 2018
Objectives
To develop a new methodological framework for sustainable energy, involving contributions from several academic disciplines and use it to analyze problems in relation to the design of policy instruments, markets and regulations, international energy and climate policy, as well as innovation and diffusion.
