Innovation courses

The UiO Growth House runs courses that will increase innovation competence among UiO employees: PhD candidates, postdocs, researchers & staff, including administrative employees.

The UiO Growth House offers courses at three levels: foundation, step-up and start-up.

The courses are free for UiO employees. Please contact training@growthhouse.uio.no, if you are interested in a course, but are outside the UiO system.

How to identify a good innovation idea from your research data

Have you ever wondered if there is an idea for an innovation project or even a start-up buried in your piles of research data? Or, how to know if that idea is any good? Then this interactive and reflective workshop is for you!

Idea to Innovation (I2I) course

How to turn your idea into a successful innovation project

This hands-on workshop introduces you to the tools you need to develop an academic research project into a successful innovation project. We’ll also cover funding opportunities and innovation grant writing as a potential next step for developing your project further.

Grant writing course

You perform excellent research and know the impact it can have on society. You already have solid data and a plan for mobilising your research into real-world products and services, but you need money to do just that. Join us for this ? day workshop, and we'll share the nuts and bolts of innovation grant writing with you. You will work on your own innovation project during this workshop.

  • Learning outcomes: You will learn how to build and tailor the story of your innovation project to different audiences, including funding agencies.
  • Prerequisites: Non, but haven taken our Foundation level – IDEA course and Step-up level – Idea-to-Innovation (I2I) course described above gives a good basis before grant writing.
  • Potential next steps from this course: Start working 1:1 with an innovation adviser at the UiO Growth House and apply for internal innovation funding from UiO and/or commercialisation funding from The Research Council of Norway. If you have already secured the first innovation funding and are eligible, you also could reach out to the UiO Growth House to discuss how your project might fit into one of the European Innovation Council (EIC) funding schemes.
