Han jobber med politisk retorikk i bred forstand, og er engasjert i prosjekter om norske og nordiske selvbilder, byr?kratisk tekstproduksjon, sosiale bevegelsers ytringskultur, organisering av forskningskommunikasjon, m.m.
Han leder forskergruppen Tekst og retorikk, og deltar dessuten i UiO:Demokrati-gruppen Voicing Democracy. Han er styremedlem i Nordisk Retorikkforening og medredakt?r av retorikkmagasinet Kairos.
