Chateau Neuf
Temporary facade safety net

What's happening?
The Estate Department has secured the facade of Chateau Neuf?to prevent any potential loose parts from falling. We have installed a safety net by the main entrance and to the right of the main entrance. The facade will be permanently secured, but the date has not been set. We will send out a new notification when further work is resumed.
When is it happening?

- The scaffolding will remain in place.

Domus Theologica/Blindernveien 11
Planned power outage December 2nd and 4th
What's happening?
Due to excavation work by the parking lot at Domus Theologica, Hafslund and Laje AS will have to switch off the power twice in week 49. This will occur from 00:00 to 06:00 on Tuesday, 2nd December and on Thursday, 4th December. During these periods, Domus Theologica, and possibly Blindernveien 11, will be completely without power.
When is it happening?
- Tuesday, 2nd December 2025 from 00:00 to 06:00.
- Thursday, 4th December from 00:00 to 06:00.
Consequences
- During these periods, the power will be out in Domus Theologica and possibly also Bindernveien 11.
- We recommend that you switch off your computer and other electronic equipment before leaving work on Monday, 1st December and Wednesday, 3rd December. This is to avoid potential issues with your computer when the power disconnects or reconnects.
- Due to the excavation, the sidewalk between the parking lot and the entrance to Domus Theologica will become narrower.

Frederikke
Rehabilitiation of Room for faith and thought

What's happening?
The Estate Department will be rehabilitating Room for Faith and Thought?and establishing a student area in Frederikke. The existing prayer room and the area where the former common area for KUTT was located, will be demolished and rebuilt. The main corridor, the chapel, and all entrances to Frederikke and the canteen will still be accessible.
Updated 02.06.25:?After assessment from the fire adviser, we must put up a temporary fire wall beside the chapel to maintain fire safety during the rehabilitation period. The chapel will remain closed until it’s safe to reopen it. The University chaplaincy has been informed. They are seeking alternative solutions and will inform affected parties of any changes.
We expect the chapel to be reopened for use in week 35.

Consequences
- We will cordon off the construction area.
- We will try to schedule noisy work before 09:00 and after 15:00 to minimize the impact on the building's occupants.
- The noisiest work will be removing the ceiling, demolishing walls, removing floor, drilling for fastening wall panels, and installing glass walls. The loudest work will take place from 22nd May to 10th July.
- Athletica Blindern, which has an entrance from Frederikke, has decided to temporarily move the reception, which is located near the construction area, into the gym area during the construction period. They will inform their customers about this.
- There will be some dust during the construction period. The contractor will implement necessary measures to keep the construction site as clean and tidy as possible.
- The chapel is closed and will probably reopen in week 35.

Georg Sverdrups hus
Renovation in basement
What's happening?
The Estate Department will be?converting basement areas in Georg Sverdrups hus into a new secure preservation store for the University of Oslo Library’s collection of irreplaceable books. The new facility will be located in room K243, facing Sophus Lies auditorium and Moltke Moes vei.
To prepare the premises for the new function, we will replace the ventilation ducts in the room and install a dedicated inert gas fire suppression system. In addition to one wall being demolished and a new one erected, there will be some masonry, plastering and painting.
When is it happening?
Start date: Monday, 3rd November 2025
End date: Onsday, 15th April 2025
Consequences
- Low noise levels
- Noisier works will be carried out between 07:00–09:00 and after 15:00
- During exams, events and similar, noisy works can be paused upon request to the project manager
- Low dust levels
- Minimal odour

Planned power outage
?What's happening?
Statsbygg, which owns and operates Harald Schjelderups hus, will be testing protective devices and fuses on the main switchboard and sub-distribution boards. The same test was carried out six months ago.
When is it happening?
Wednesday, 3rd December 2025, from 21:00 to midnight
Consequences
- Short power interruptions when protective devices/fuses are switched off and on.
- The power interruptions may trigger alarms.
- We recommend turning off your PC and all other electronic equipment before leaving work on Wednesday, 3rd December.

Helga Engs hus
Renovation of premises

What's happening?
The Estate Department will be renovating some of the floors in? Helga Engs hus?to co-locate the Department of Education (IPED). The project is an extension of the establishment of a new center for outstanding research, Create, in Kristine Bonnevies hus. IPED staff are currently located in two different buildings: the 5th floor in Helga Engs hus and Oslo Science Park.
Due the co-location the premises must be renovated to be adapted to the new needs. The project includes the basement floor K1, lower floor U1, 1st floor, 2nd floor, 3rd floor, and 5th floor.
Employees currently located in Oslo Science Park will be moving to a wing on the 2nd floor. The area will be converted into suitable office spaces and associated support functions such as meeting rooms, quiet rooms, and break rooms. The IT department currently located on the 2nd floor will be relocated to the 1st floor, where an area next to the cafeteria will be converted into suitable office and storage spaces. The project also includes the establishment of two new storage rooms in the basement floor K1, conversion of the library in the lower floor U1 into a reading room, and new quiet and meeting rooms on the 5th floor.
When is it happening?
Start date: Monday, 31st March 2025
End date: Monday, 15th December 2025
Consequences

- The work will be carried out to minimize disruption to users, and the project will coordinate a detailed schedule with the users.
- There will be some construction noise.
- We will try to avoid particularly noisy work between 09:00 and 15:00.
- Some dust. Dust-reducing measures will be implemented.
- A part of the parking area is closed, and will be used as al laydown area.
- The 16 parking spaces closest to Svein Rosselands hus are closed off with construction fences. No HC parking spaces are affected.
- The parking spaces will be available for use again in November 2025.
- For short periods throughout the duration of the works, Sem S?lands vei between the parking area and Helga Engs hus, will be blocked off for unloading and material transport. The contractor will try to schedule this for early morning, before regular working hours.

Historical Museum
Repair of vertical drain pipes
What's happening?

The Estate Department has started the repair of the worn drain pipes in the Historical Museum. The project is divided into three phases. Phase 1, drainage stack VII and VIII, was completed before the summer, and Phase 2 began on Monday, 1st September. In phase 2 we will be repairing drainage stack I (see attached illustration for location) and an inspection of drainage stack III to determine how to carry out the repair. The project manager is in dialogue with users regarding the progress of the work.?

When is it happening?
Start phase 2: Monday, 1st September 2025
End phase 2: Friday, 31st October 2025
Consequences
- The toilet on the fourth floor, which is connected to drainage stack I, is closed.
- During the work period, the kitchens connected to stack I will be closed, on both the second and fourth floor. The users will receive further information as the date approaches.
- Some noise.
- Some dust.

Shut off water in parts of the building
What's happening?
The Estate Department is continuing to repair the worn drainpipes in the Historical Museum. In week 45, we must shut off the water in areas connected to drainage stack I and II. This means that toilets, kitchens and sinks will be closed in the following rooms:
- 2nd floor: rooms 221, 230, 232, 238, and 239
- 3rd floor: rooms 353, 354, 355, and 356
- 4th floor: room 451
At the same time, we will be repairing the wall between the two toilets in rooms 238 and 239.

When is it happening?
Start date: Monday, 3rd November 2025
End date: Saturday, 8th November 2025
Consequences
- Toilets, kitchens and sinks connected to drainage stack I and II will be closed during the work period. It will be possible to use the toilet in other parts of the building.
- Employees in room K31 will temporarily move out this week.
- Some noise.
- Some dust.

Renovation of room 1307
What's happening?
The Estate Department will be renovating room 1307 in Kristen Nygaards hus.?The room is an open-plan office space with meeting rooms and quiet rooms. These are separated from the landscape with glass walls. The meeting room will be relocated, and the number of quiet rooms reduced, to allow for more natural light for those working there. We will demolish and set up walls, install a new acoustic ceiling, paint surfaces and skirting boards, in addition to adjusting and adapting ventilation, heating supply and electrical installations.
When is it happening?
Start date: Monday, 6th September 2025
End date: Friday, 19th December 2025
Consequences
- The room will be unavailable while work is ongoing.
- Any noisy work will be carried out between 07:00 and 09:00 and after 15:00.

Renovation of social zone on 3rd floor

What's happening?
The Estate Department will renovate room 3128 in Kristen Nygaards hus, the former operations centre on the 3rd floor, and convert it into a social zone for the IT Department’s employees. The finishing date has been postponed due to additional work in the project.
When is it happening?
Start date: Monday, 11th August 2025
End date: Friday, 29th August 2025?week 42, 2025
Consequences
- Room 3128 will be unavailable while work is ongoing.
- There may be some noise when furniture fixed to the floor is removed, as well as during the installation of acoustic panels on the wall.

Renovation of premises on ground floor
What's happening?
The Estate Department will be renovating premises on the ground floor of?Kristine Bonnevies hus,?to facilitate the Centre for Interdisciplinary Education (INTED) and the honours programme.
When is it happening?
Start date: Monday, 31st March 2025
End date:?Friday, 31st October 2025
Consequences
- We plan to carry out noisy work in a way that minimizes the impact on the users.
- We will conduct particularly noisy work before 09:00 and after 15:00.
- To reduce dust and dirt in nearby areas, the areas will be divided into different zones.
- Dust doors and dust extraction on machines will be installed, and the area where the work is being carried out will be continuously tidied and vacuumed.
- To reduce the impact of cutting and fitting materials on indoor climate, relevant materials will be pre-ordered and pre-cut.
- In addition, the contractor will arrange for cleaning twice a week and implement other necessary measures to keep the construction site as clean as possible.?

Renovation of premises for the Department of Archaeology, Conservation and History
What's happening?
The Estate Department will be renovating rooms U201–U217 and K202–K211 in Kristine Bonnevies hus (mazemap.com), located in a separate area behind the building. These rooms will be converted into new premises for the Department of Archaeology, Conservation and History, which will move from Frederiks gate 3.
When is it happening?
Start date: Monday, 18th August 2025
End date: Wednesday, 31st?December 2025
Consequences
- The area is separate but connected to Kristine Bonnevies hus’ main building through an elevator and a stairwell. Access will be restricted while work is ongoing, and the associated exit will only be available as an emergency exit.
- Some noise may carry up through the elevator shaft and stairwell.

What's happening?
Helse S?r-?st has commenced the work to expand Rikshospitalet at Gaustad. Some construction activities have already begun. The project will continue for several years. Parts of the work will affect the University of Oslo's students and staff in the area.
