More about WebID

WebID is a collaboration tool that allows people outside Feide to have their own WebID user account created. This account can then be given access to online services that support WebID.

In WebID, anyone can register and create their own WebID user. For the user to gain access to a service, the IT department must create a WebID group and add the collaborators to this group. The group must then be granted access in the specific service.

Please note that not all services support WebID. List of supported services.

Starting collaboration

A hypothetical situation is that a Feide user wants to collaborate with some external persons, but would like to use a work tool at UiO that requires login, for example Vortex.

  1. The Feide user asks the external persons to create a WebID user.
  2. The Feide user applies to create a WebID group for the collaboration via this application form. The IT department must add the WebID users to the group.
  3. The group must be granted permissions in the online service in which it is to be used. Someone who administers the online service must do this. In Vortex, for example, the group can be given write access to an area where the collaboration documents will be stored. Note that a group must contain members in order to be visible in the various online services.
