Assessment for Learning: New Theories, Designs, and Practice in Medical Education - Lecture and discussion

Dr. Kulamakan (Mahan) Kulasegaram is a Scientist at the Wilson Centre and Temerty Faculty of Medicine (Toronto, Canada) where he is the Temerty Chair in Learner Assessment and Program Evaluation. Additionally, he is an Associate Professor and Director of the Office of Education Scholarship in the Department of Family & Community Medicine.

Assessment for learning continues to be a challenge for health professions, even within the evolving paradigms of competency based education. In this talk, dr. Kulamakan discuss how a theoretical understanding of expertise and learning can help us evolve the role of assessment and assessment data as aids for learning. He discuss how adaptive expertise, transfer of learning, and the emerging role of AI can help teachers and learners navigate the messy role of assessment within lifelong learning in health professions.

Dr. Kulamakan's presentation will also be streamed via Zoom, and a link will be sent to registered participants the day before the event.
