SysMus

The SysMus conference drew a large group of researchers from across the world.

After much planning, the local organising team could finally welcome participants on the first day of the conference.

RITMO Higher Executive Officer Eirik Slinning Karlsen was in charge of the streaming station. The whole conference was organised as a hybrid event, which required continuous monitoring of the online participants.

The third keynote lecture was delivered by UiO Professor Bruno Laeng, who talked about musical chills.

SysMus is a unique academic conference, organised entirely by and for early-career researchers. This is a great learning experience for everyone involved, encompassing all parts of conference organisation, including moderating sessions.

There was a high level of engagement in all the plenary sessions.

RITMO doctoral fellow Pedro Lucas presented the workshop "Human-Swarm Interactive Music Systems: Implementation and data analysis using Python".

In addition to lectures, demos, and workshops, there were also parallel sessions allowing for more in-depth discussions.

RITMO doctoral fellow Diego Marin led a movement-based workshop: "Dancing puzzle: reconstructing a dance through collective kinesthetic memory".

The conference ended with a "Parting Springar Dance", where participants learned the basics of springar, a traditional Norwegian folk dance Vilde Aaslid (fiddle) and Vilde Westeng (dance).
