Sentrale sp?rsm?l er hva som gj?r at noen rytmer ?groover?, og hvordan ut?vere skaper og oppfatter overbevisende grooves i praksis.

Jeg har blitt tildelt et FRIPRO Young Researcher Talent-stipend fra Norges forskningsr?d for prosjektet ?GROOVE: Mapping, Modeling, and Perceiving the Combinatorics of Groove-Based Rhythms?, med planlagt oppstart mot slutten av 2026. Prosjektet unders?ker hvordan groove oppst?r gjennom kombinasjoner av rytmiske m?nstre p? tvers av ensemblepartier, utvikler et systematisk, beregningsbasert rammeverk for ? identifisere ?groove-arketyper? p? tvers av groove-tradisjoner, og tester hvordan slike m?nsterkombinasjoner p?virker opplevelse av lyst og bevegelsestrang (?urge to move?). I mitt postdoktorarbeid ved RITMO unders?kte jeg terskler for timing-persepsjon i groove-basert popul?rmusikk. Jeg gjennomf?rte lytteeksperimenter for ? estimere JND-terskler (just noticeable difference) for typiske mikrorytmiske virkemidler (for eksempel asynkroni/aniso?kroni, ? spille ?bakp??/?fremp??, swing m.m.) i et bredt utvalg av musikalske stimuli (f.eks. funk, soul, hip-hop, jazz og rock).

I mitt Ph.D. prosjekt forsket jeg p? interaksjonen mellom timing og lyd p? mikro niv? av rytmisk produksjon, i tillegg til persepsjon i live groove-basert kontekst. Min Ph.D. var en del av TIME prosjektet (Timing and Sound in Musical Microrhythm) ved Institutt for Musikkvitenskap.

Background

Jeg har en Bachelor (2013), Master (2016) grad fra Institutt for Musikkvitenskap ved Universitetet i Oslo, og en Doktor grad (2021) fra?RITMO Senter for tverrfaglig forskning p? rytme, tid og bevegelse (IMV).

I tillegg til ? forske p? groove er jeg aktiv som ut?ver innen soul/funk/reggae/ska sjangrene, samt at jeg komponerer, arrangerer og produserer musikk, blant annet i bandet Baba Soul & The Professors of Funk, som var husbandet p? TV2's "Senkveld".
