Now that your exam is over (and hopefully went well), we have a final announcement, or rather an invitation for you: We will host a seminar on next Thursday at IFI where we will talk about our efforts to build and evaluate LLMs for Norwegian. There will be an inaugural opening of the TRUST research center on Monday afternoon, with a discussion panel including Yoshua Bengio (winner of the Turing Prize 2018, and often described as one of the “godfathers of AI”), see:

The organisation of this discussion panel was only decided yesterday, so I apologize for the last-minute change, but I suggest we move the time of our IN4080 lecture on Monday from 14:15 – 16:00 to 12:45 – 14:30 (that is, 1h30 earlier than scheduled), such that we can all attend this opening and discussion panel (I guess there will be many persons who will want to attend, so I don’t know whether there will be enough seats for everyone, but we’ll see).

The final obligatory assignment for the course is out, and can be downloaded on the course repo.
The video lectures related to advanced topics on dialogue systems are also available on Panopto.
Next Monday (October 27), we will resume our physical lectures with a deep dive in speech processing (including a short intro to phonetics and acoustics and an overview of speech recognition and synthesis models).

This is a reminder that the third mandatory assignment is due on Friday, October 17th, 23:59 Oslo time. The code is available here:

(Note that the starter code has been updated today to take into account the recommended modules on Fox and pre-downloaded models. We recommend you to update your code, but we'll of course also accept submissions based on previous versions of the starter code.)

Students registered to IN4080 can have access to Fox to run their models ona a High-Performance Computing Cluster. Using Fox is not really required for the second obligatory assignment (although you can do it if you'd like), it will be more useful for the third assignment. The details on how to access Fox can be found on:

Don't hesitate to let us know if you experience any problems, or if the instructions on the page should be corrected.
