KJM1002 – Introduction to Chemistry

Course content

The course provides an introduction to key topics in chemistry and includes an introduction to organic chemistry suitable for further studies, as well as practical laboratory training. The course is a part of the programme Biovitenskap (bachelor). Students who already have ‘Chemistry 2’ (Kjemi 2) from Upper Secondary School should consider taking KJM1101 General Chemistry.

Special admission requirements

In addition to fulfilling the?Higher Education Entrance Qualification, applicants have to meet the following special admission requirements:

  • Mathematics R1 (or Mathematics S1 and S2) + R2

And in addition one of these:

  • Physics (1+2)
  • Chemistry (1+2)
  • Biology (1+2)
  • Information technology (1+2)
  • Geosciences (1+2)
  • Technology and theories of research (1+2)

The special admission requirements may also be covered by?equivalent studies from Norwegian upper secondary school or by other equivalent studies?(in Norwegian).

Formal prerequisite knowledge

The following courses must be passed before you can attend the first mandatory laboratory teaching in KJM1002:

Minimum basic chemistry (e.g. Kjemi 1) from Upper Secondary School.
