This is a reminder about tomorrow's meeting in room 500 at 1215-1400. This is the last meeting before the exam, so it is a good time to ask any final questions you may have.

I will also talk about parts of the notes on combinatorial matrix theory tomorrow.?

I have posted a document here which lists important points and potential exam questions from the curriculum which I think you should know about. Use this to structure the reading process from now on up to the exam. Of course, I may ask about think outside the topics listed here, but that will be only to a smaller extent.?

Although I have said that LP programming is not a necessary prerequisite for the course, you should be able to state LP problems in general form. The curriculum contains several examples on this

This is a reminder about the compulsory exercise, which has deadline this Thursday, at 1430. Once the compulsory exercise has been corrected, I will try to set a date for the exam.

I also remind you about Thursday's meeting in room 500. Try to read through the rest of the notes on combinatorial optimisation till that meeting.

The exam in MAT4120 will be oral, but we may have to use two separate days for the examination. There will be one other assessor, in addition to myself. Possible timeslots which suit the other assessor and myself are

27-28. November
8-9. December
11-12. December

Could you all indicate to me by mail which of these dates are possible for you (and if there are certain hours these days that you are not available)? It is also possible to combine dates from different weeks, but I would prefer not to.

This is just a reminder about today's meeting at 1215 in room 500 in the math building. I will go through some more exercises in chapter 5 and 6 in ]1], and say a bit more on the proof of Theorem 1.2 in [2]. Try to be precise at 1215, as someone has to let you in since the door is closed. I will check at the door at 1215 and 1220.

We have the next meeting tomorrow, Thursday 9. October 1215 in room 500. I will go through some of the exercises in chap. 5 and 6 in [1], and also take. look at the first chapter in [2].

I will be on the travel at the time of the next planned meeting. I therefore propose that we move the next meeting from 2. October to 9. October (1215-1400 in room 500 as before). This means that we will have meetings two times in a row (9/10 and 16/10). I have updated the week plan with this.

Next time I will start by going through exercise 4.32, and continue on exercises from the rest of [1]. Again send me suggestions on proofs or exercises for me to go through. If you follow the schedule in the week plan you should finish reference [1] till the 9/10-meeting, and also have read the first two chapters in [2]. Also try the remaining exercises in [1], and get started on the first exercises in [2].

The 5th floor was locked today, so, I had to let you in manually. I will check around 1215 next time, to see if anyone is late.

Our next meeting is Thursday 18/9 1215-1400 in room 500. Homework for that lecture is reading through the first four chapters in [1]. Also take a look at some of the parts I mentioned in the last meeting: Theorem 2.4.2 and its proof, exercises 2.3, 2.14, 2.16 2.17, 2.24. All these contain some difficult parts.

You will get much more out of the meetings if you prepare some questions from the chapters you have read. You can also send me a mail in advance, if there are things you want me to go through in the next meeting.

Jeg foresl?r vi tar et f?rste m?te i MAT4120 p? mandag 25. august mellom 0915 og 1000 p? rom 1020. P? dette f?rste m?tet tenkte jeg vi bare skulle bli enige om et fast m?tetidspunkt for resten av semesteret. Vi kan ogs? diskutere n?rmere tidspunkt for avsluttende eksamen, som blir muntlig med mindre vi er veldig mange som skal ta eksamen.

Jeg tenkte at vi skulle m?tes annenhver uke, slik at f?rste gangen der vi snakker om pensumet blir i starten av september. En leseplan med forslag til oppgaver er lagt ut her. Dere kan allerede n? begynne ? lese p? stoffet: Start med de to f?rste kapitlene i "an introduction to convexity" (referanse [1]), som dere kan finne link til i leganto. I leseplanen kan dere se forslag til oppgaver fra disse kapitlene.
