... is now out (see the link further below on the page). The deadline is Thursday April 23 at 14:30.
Note that the only requirement for you to pass the assignment is that you hand in a report, at the minimum a blank page with your name, course and assignment number. If you want comments to your work, you need to hand in a clearly legible report.
If you need to apply for a postponement of the submission deadline due to illness or other reasons, you have to contact Ingrid Hob?k Haff (e-mail: ingrihaf@math.uio.no), no later than the same day as the deadline at 14:30. Further, use you uio-email to contact me, as your e-mail otherwise risks ending up in the junk folder.

I also want to clarify something I said about the backfitting algorithm for additive models during the lecture I held today. The update \(\hat{f}_j \leftarrow \hat{f}_j - \frac{1}{N}\sum_{i=1}^N \hat{f}_j(x_{ij})\) ensures that \(\frac{1}{N} \sum_{i=1}^N \hat{f}_j(x_{ij}) = 0\). By convergence, it is meant that the \(\hat{f}_j\) stabilize. I apologize for any confusion!
