INTHE4015 – Master Thesis - Thematic Track
Course content
During your training in the Master in the International Community Health programme, you will be required to develop an independent scientific work culminating into a master thesis. The Master thesis (30credits) will provide the students an opportunity to demonstrate scientific independence through the conduct of scientific research that is relevant for improving global community health. Through a step-by-step process, student shall develop a protocol for the thesis and acquired ethical and regulatory approvals, complete data analysis and write and communicate the thesis results through presentation and written document.
Learning outcome
Knowledge
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

Demonstrate how to search and use different sources of scientific?literatures to identify research gaps relevant in global community?health.

Explain theoretical frameworks of relevance in global community?health research and how they are used in the conceptualization and?interpretation of own scientific work.

Explain methodological approaches for documents review in global?health.

Describe the use of quantitative and qualitative research methods in?studying global community health challenges.

Demonstrate the ability for good scientific writing and translate?scientific results to inform community health interventions.
Skills
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

Appraise scientific literature in global community health to compare and interpret own research findings. Develop a scientific protocol that is original and of ethical standard.

Make use of appropriate theoretical frameworks and apply key methodological approaches in the collation, and analysis of available data or documentary review.

Compile an independent scientific report in a professional and an ethically sound manner. ? Discuss and disseminate research results to colleagues and scientific community.

Formal prerequisite knowledge
You must be admitted to the master programme in International Community Health and have completed all courses in the programme before or during the semester you submit your thesis.
Teaching
The course consists of seminars and workshops to facilitate data analysis and thesis writing.
Examination
The exam consists of both your written master's thesis and an oral examination.
Examination and grading at The Faculty of Medicine.
Language of examination
You must submit your examination paper in English.
The oral exam is conducted in English.
Grading scale
Grades are awarded on a scale from A to F, where A is the best grade and F is a fail. Read more about?the grading system.
