ECFIN3000 – Corporate Finance

Course content

This course examines how firms structure and manage their financing activities. Students will explore key financial concepts including capital structure decisions, payout policy and financing strategies. The course also covers options, corporate governance and other special topics in corporate finance

Admission to the course

This course is compulsory for students at the bachelor programme in ?konomi og finans, but other students can apply. Students from another study programme afiliated with the Department of Economics will be given priority.?

You can not attend this course if you have already passed specific ECON-courses at a higher level.?

Students attending the Bachelor's programme in Mathematics: finance, insurance and economics with the field of study Mathematics and Economics may be given priority in admission to this course if they apply for admission to the course in the first round of admission in June.?

The course builds on basic knowledge of microeconomics, statistics and finance, corresponding to ECON1210 Mikro?konomi 1, ECON2130 Statistikk and ECFIN2000 Investering og verdsetting. Students who do not have such knowledge are recommended not to take this course.?

Teaching

Course responsible can at the beginning of the semester update the syllabus list by changing no more than three articles, though in a way that it will not change the overall scope or thematic content of the course.?

The syllabus also includes any lecture notes that will be made available for the students in Canvas.?

Examination

The examination will be a 3-hour written school exam.?

Examination support material

Usage of a dictionary during the examination is allowed, subject to prior inspection by SV-info. See guidelines for further details.?

Language of examination

The examination text is given in English. You may submit your response in Norwegian, Swedish, Danish or English.?

Grading scale

Grades are awarded on a scale from A to F, where A is the best grade and F is a fail. Read more about the grading system.?

Resit an examination

If you are sick or have another valid reason for not attending the regular exam, we offer a?postponed exam?later in the same semester.

There are restrictions on resitting this exam. See further information about?resitting an exam.

Students who wish to retake an examination later, are not guaranteed that the course will be given with the same content and syllabus, or that it will be the same type of exam.
