Election platform
Recent developments such as artificial intelligence, automation, and hybrid work have transformed the way we work. These changes encourage us to reevaluate our expectations of work and reform management practices. Universities are particularly affected because of their flat organizational structures and the growing demand for internationalization.
I am interested in joining the Board of the University of Oslo as a representative of the permanent academic staff, with a focus on the organization and us, the employees.
Internationalization
My first interest aligns with UiO’s goal of being a leading international university. I am committed to strengthening the research focus in every possible way to enhance the university’s competitiveness and to foster a truly international environment. This includes facilitating the of international staff, so that UiO can effectively use the individual potential of all research staff and their networks.
Management and employee engagement
My second interest is rooted in my professional background in work and organizational psychology. With my expertise, I can significantly contribute to fostering a stronger connection between management and staff. I am committed to promoting fairness and participation in the decision-making process to ensure that employees feel valued and engaged.
Supporting research careers
I am passionate about improving support for researchers' careers, particularly for early-career researchers establishing themselves in their fields. Drawing on my expertise in career development and my experiences in mentoring younger colleagues, I aim to advocate for more effective career support to help younger scholars navigate their professional journeys.
I believe these focuses will help create a productive academic community at UiO.
About me
I am running for this election because of my extensive knowledge and expertise about organizations. As a professor of Work and Organizational Psychology in the Faculty of Social Sciences, my area of research and teaching provides me with insights into the management of organizations, leadership practices, employee engagement and productivity – all of which contribute significantly to the organization’s overall performance.
Prior to joining UiO in 2008, I worked as a researcher at the University of St. Gallen and ETH in Zurich. I am affiliated with ETH (Department Management, Technology, and Economics) because I received my professorial qualification there. My experience at ETH has given me a deep understanding of the importance of internationalization and excellence in research and teaching in academic institutions.
I hold a diploma in psychology (1992) and a PhD in social and economic sciences (2000). I am actively involved in both the Norwegian and in the international research communities, serving as an associate editor of a one of the core journals in our field and coordinator of the Norwegian Network of Researchers in Work and Organizational Psychology.
