Advertisements

The University of Oslo has a general prohibition against commercial activities on the university's premises. We do not grant permission for filming and photography for advertising purposes on our areas, whether indoors or outdoors. It is also not permitted to sell, conduct marketing events, distribute flyers and samples, or engage in recruitment efforts that are not part of an organized event.

Applying for filming and photography

You must apply for permission to film/photograph at least one week in advance.

  • Whether the application is granted depends on factors such as the areas to be used, whether the teaching schedule allows enough time for the production, and whether it can be technically carried out.
  • Please note that filming during lectures also requires permission from the lecturer and informing the audience in advance.
  • If third parties are identifiable, the photographer or film producer must obtain consent. Use a consent form (pdf) (in Norwegian).

Application

The application should include the following points and be sent to the Estate Department:

  • Name of the company with billing address and name of the production manager.
  • Type of production (drama, documentary, entertainment, etc.).
  • What is to be filmed. Describe why the production is taking place at UiO specifically.
  • Which area/building is desired for use.
  • The number of people involved in the production and any special technical needs (power, rigging of equipment, etc.).
  • Date, time, and total number of hours for rigging and filming.

Site visits

The Estate Department can assist in finding suitable locations and conducting a site visit prior to the production. A site visit does not guarantee that permission will be granted.

Financial responsibility

  • For indoor productions, the prices for renting meeting and teaching rooms at UiO apply.
  • Standard precautions regarding third parties must be upheld. Those filming or photographing on UiO's premises are responsible for covering damages to UiO's property or individuals.
  • Many of UiO's buildings are protected. Additionally, UiO owns and manages important works of art. Photography and filming can cause strain on buildings, objects, and interiors. Caution must be exercised. Full compensation is required from the renter in the event of any damage.
  • The Estate Department may stop filming in the event of violations of regulations and agreements.
