We have an Xsens motion capture suit that may be used for exploring musical interaction with full body movement.

A. How to set up and use

Components

The Xsens suitcase contains the following (need pictures):

  • Transmitters
  • Receivers
  • Suit – Top part
  • Suit – Bottom part
  • Sync cable for transmitters
  • Power cables for transmitters
  • Batteries / battery charger
  • Shoe sensor straps
  • Shoe sensor mounts
  • Setup sheet for wiring

Setup procedure (pictures)

  • (Check battery levels)
  • Put on the bottom part of the suit (including foot sensors)
  • Put on the to part of the suit (including gloves and headband)
  • Put on the belt with the two transmitters
  • Attach the loose blue, red, yellow, and green wires as shown in the wiring sheet
    • Green cable from left thigh foes to the right on the left transmitter
    • Yellow cable from head sensor goes to the left on left transmitter
    • Two red cables from the back: one goes to the right shoulder (difficult to find), and one goes to the left input on the right transmitter
    • Two blue cables from the sternum: one goes to the right thigh, and one goes rightmost on the right transmitter
  • Connect orange sync cable between the transmitters
  • Connect USB receivers to the computer and start the MVN Studio software
