The Science Library was buzzing Thursday 13. November as Professor Marianne Fyhn delivered an excellent lunch seminar on how the brain forms, stores and strengthens memories. The Research Council of Norway has granted NOK 100 million to establish the Norwegian Maritime AI Centre, the world’s first national research centre dedicated to applied AI in the maritime sector. The centre will be led by NTNU, with the University of Oslo as a key partner alongside industry leaders and members of the dScience Partner Program: Kongsberg Maritime, Equinor, and DNV.

On Tuesday, 16 September 2025, the course The Mathematics behind Machine Learning – from Regression to Chat-GPT kicked off, specially designed for mathematics teachers in Oslo schools. The aim is to give participants an understanding of the mathematics underlying machine learning and generative artificial intelligence.

dScience proudly hosted the FENS Regional Meeting in June 2025 (FRM2025), Europe’s largest regional neuroscience conference. From June 16 to 19, more than 1,050 researchers, students, and professionals from across Europe and beyond gathered at the University of Oslo’s Blindern campus for four full days of scientific exchange and collaboration.

The Research Council of Norway announced the research environments selected to receive national research centre status for artificial intelligence (AI) at a press conference on 11 June 2025. Among those chosen is TRUST – The Norwegian Centre for Trustworthy AI – which will now receive substantial support to establish a national research centre, with its core located in Oslo Science City. TRUST will be led by the University of Oslo (UiO), SINTEF, and the Norwegian Computing Center (NR).
