Facilitating Interdisciplinary Learning: Introducing INTED’s Interdisciplinary Facilitator Program?
The Interdisciplinary Facilitator Program (IFP)—a pedagogical initiative designed to support interdisciplinary group work in higher education. As part of INTED’s broader mission to strengthen interdisciplinary competence, the program equips learning assistants with the tools, knowledge, and mindset needed to guide students across disciplinary boundaries.
How should we design education with a focus on competence?
This was the central question at the MNT Conference held in Trondheim on May 5–6. The purpose of the MNT Conference is to promote the quality and relevance of STEM education by supporting a research-based and scholarly approach to teaching and learning – known as SoTL (Scholarship of Teaching and Learning).
With the financial strength of the Oil Fund, how can Norway contribute to solving the climate crisis? This was the backdrop for the case competition held from January 29-31 at the bachelor's program in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE).
INTED organized an interdisciplinary workshop on AI and climate from February 7th to 9th. Students practiced integrating their own expertise with other fields, transferring theory to practice, and gained insight into the current issue of how to balance AI and climate.
Higher education in the Netherlands has extensive experience with various Honours programs and offerings. How do you create a common scientific language between an anthropological storyteller and a systematic biologist? This was discussed by Knut G. Nustad in his lecture on interdisciplinary collaboration in the Global Trout project on May 23rd. Interdisciplinarity is something that most people are interested in, but it is very challenging in practice. In his lecture, Nustad shared how they solved this in their project.
