Beskjeder
The second mandatory assignment has now been published in Canvas.
Note: Contrary to the first assignment, the only requirement for getting your assignment approved is that you hand in anything at all! Thus, you may hand in an empty PDF file, or you may hand in solutions to every exercise. You will receive feedback on everything that you hand in.
Best regards,
Ulrik
Dear all,
I have published a note on preparations for the exams, including earlier exam problems. You will find it under "Resources".
Best regards,
Ulrik
We have finished correcting oblig 1, and you will find the corrected assignment in Canvas. Please read your feedback thoroughly – you will learn from doing so! If you have any questions or comments, send us a message in Canvas or send us an email.
I have compiled a list of common mistakes in your solutions. Please read it before you start on the second mandatory assignment.
On Tuesday we also discussed good, and less good, use of LLMs (such as Claude, ChatGPT, etc.). To put it short, I think asking or discussing with an LLM can be a great way to understand the material – in the same way that asking or discussing with a fellow student can teach both of you a lot. However, just as with asking fellow students, you risk getting too reliant on the LLM. One of the most central skills you acquire when studying mathematics is to be comfortable with getting stuck when working on a hard problem!
Here is a suggested solution to mandatory assignment 1. Johannes and I will correct your assignments as soon as possible.
Best regards,
Ulrik
Dear all,
I have written a first draft of the syllabus for this semester, along with suggestions for where to look for supplementary material. You will find it on the page under Resources on the semester front page.
Best regards,
Ulrik
The first mandatory assignment ("oblig") has now been published. You will find it both on the semester home page and in Canvas. The deadline is Thursday 12 March at 14:30.
Please read the instructions in the assignment carefully before you start working on the assignment. As always, let me know if you have any questions!
Best regards,
Ulrik

I will offer office hours for MAT2400 this semester. Office hours is a fixed weekly time slot of one hour where you can come to my office and ask questions about the syllabus.?
To find the best time, please fill out this form as soon as possible. (You will need to log in with your UiO user name.) I will update this message when a time slot has been fixed.

Dear all,
On Friday Matematisk Fagutvalg is organising an event where I will give a talk on things relating to my own research. It should be accessible to all of you, and touches upon the general themes of MAT2400.
That's Friday 30 January at 16:30 in auditorium 4 of Vilhelm Bjerknes' hus. The talk will last for about 30 minutes. I have been told there will be pizza.
Best regards,
Ulrik

Pe...
